IGICUMBI SACCO NYANZA is seeking a qualified, experienced, and highly motivated professional to fill the position of Senior Internal Auditor.

Job Purpose

The Senior Internal Auditor will oversee internal audit activities, evaluate internal control systems, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, identify risks, and provide independent assurance on the effectiveness and efficiency of the SACCO’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement internal audit plans and programs.
• Conduct audits of financial, operational, and administrative activities.
• Evaluate internal control systems and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and financial sector standards.
• Identify risks and provide recommendations to strengthen risk management.
• Review financial records, procedures, and operational processes.
• Prepare clear and professional audit reports for management and relevant committees.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations.
• Support external auditors during audit assignments.
• Provide guidance on internal controls, governance, and compliance matters.
• Maintain high standards of professional ethics and confidentiality.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.

Experience and Skills

Candidates should have:

• Minimum of five (5) years of auditing and management experience in banking, microfinance, or related sectors for Bachelor’s Degree holders.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience for Master’s Degree holders in the stated fields.
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CIA is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of auditing standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and deliver quality results.
