About Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR)
Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR) is a Rwandan not-for-profit organization established in 2010 to promote financial inclusion and financial sector development. AFR works with policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, and development partners to improve access to financial services for women, youth, rural communities, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The organization is funded by several international partners, including Sweden, The Mastercard Foundation, Gates Foundation, Jersey Overseas Aid, and Global Impact/Co-Develop.
Key Responsibilities
The successful intern will:
- Support research and market analysis activities.
- Clean, analyze, visualize, and report quantitative and qualitative data.
- Assist in designing research methodologies and survey instruments.
- Conduct literature reviews and secondary research.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and knowledge products.
- Coordinate research activities with consultants and stakeholders.
- Support project monitoring and performance reporting.
- Organize meetings, workshops, and dissemination events.
- Maintain research databases and documentation.
- Participate in data validation and quality assurance processes.
- Develop dashboards and communication materials.
- Perform other research and analytical duties assigned by the department.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Statistics
- Economics
- Econometrics
- Data Science
- Business Analytics
- Mathematics
- Public Policy
- Development Studies
- Or a related field
Candidates should also demonstrate:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Knowledge of research methods, sampling, and survey design.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following:
- STATA
- SPSS
- Python
- R
- Power BI
- Microsoft Excel
Experience & Skills
Successful candidates should have:
- Experience working with quantitative and qualitative datasets.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Additional advantages include:
- Experience analyzing large datasets.
- Project coordination and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
