RATWA SACCO HUYE is inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Head of Operations. The successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight of the Cooperative’s operations department, ensuring efficient service delivery, regulatory compliance, staff performance, operational controls, and implementation of policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision and guidance of the Managing Director, the Head of Operations will be responsible for the following:
- Work diligently on assigned duties, complete tasks on time, and achieve expected results.
- Comply with instructions provided by the employer or authorized representative.
- Properly manage and take care of assigned work equipment.
- Observe working days and working hours.
- Maintain confidentiality of work-related information.
- Follow the principles, rules, and codes of conduct governing the Cooperative’s activities.
- Plan and monitor the day-to-day operations of the department to ensure efficiency and high-quality work.
- Supervise, guide, and support employees in implementing their assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Participate in management meetings.
- Develop departmental strategies in collaboration with senior management.
- Review and formulate relevant policies and promote their effective implementation.
- Oversee compliance with regulations, policies, procedures, and standards applicable to the department.
- Manage relationships and agreements with staff, members, customers, and external partners.
- Prepare timely and detailed reports on the financial and operational performance of the department.
- Regularly evaluate the efficiency of business procedures against RATWA SACCO HUYE’s objectives and implement improvements where necessary.
- Supervise and manage all employees within the Operations Department.
- Review and coordinate the daily activities of the Cooperative in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing new policies and procedures and amendments to existing policies and regulations, particularly those relating to operations.
- Ensure compliance with and implementation of applicable laws, general regulations, policies, procedures, and decisions of the Cooperative.
- Assist in ensuring that an effective internal control system is maintained within the Cooperative.
- Prepare and submit departmental activity reports to the Managing Director for approval.
- Assist in preparing strategic plans and action plans.
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of the Cooperative’s budget.
- Review and analyze activity reports prepared by employees.
- Assist in research, evaluation, and feasibility studies related to the development of the Cooperative.
- Perform other duties provided for under the policies and procedures governing the Cooperative.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Managing Director or superior authority, provided they do not conflict with applicable laws and regulations.
Qualification and Job Requirements
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Microfinance, or a related field; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field with 10 years of experience in senior management positions in the microfinance or banking industry.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in operations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong decision-making abilities.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operational metrics.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of French is an added advantage.
