The internship will provide practical experience in communications, content development, digital media, advocacy, stakeholder engagement and organizational visibility.

About FAWE Rwanda
The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is a Pan-African membership-based NGO operating through National Chapters across Sub-Saharan Africa. It promotes girls’ and women’s education and focuses on quality education and the socio-economic empowerment of girls and women.
FAWE Rwanda Chapter was established in 1997 and has grown into a reputable partner in promoting girls’ and women’s education in Rwanda.
Purpose of the Internship
The Communications Intern will support FAWE Rwanda’s communication activities aimed at increasing organizational visibility, stakeholder engagement and brand awareness.
The intern will gain practical experience in content creation, digital communications, media engagement, event documentation and advocacy activities.
Key Responsibilities
The Communications Intern will:
- Support implementation of FAWE Rwanda’s communication strategy.
- Develop and disseminate communication and multimedia materials.
- Assist in producing success stories, newsletters, website content and press releases.
- Create and support social media content, videos, photographs, graphics and presentations.
- Publicize FAWE Rwanda activities, meetings, workshops and organizational events.
- Ensure timely dissemination of information through appropriate communication channels.
- Support preparation of monthly and quarterly newsletters.
- Help document stories, testimonials and achievements from beneficiaries and partners.
- Contribute to advocacy campaigns and awareness-raising materials.
- Monitor social media platforms and engage with followers and stakeholders.
- Track social media performance and prepare basic analytics reports.
- Ensure communication materials comply with FAWE Rwanda branding guidelines.
- Maintain media contact lists and databases.
- Perform other communication-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Academic Qualifications
Applicants should be:
- Recent graduates or final-year students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in:
- Communications
- Journalism
- Public Relations
- Media Studies
- Marketing
- Mass Communication
- Or another related field.
Experience
Previous experience is not mandatory, but the following will be an added advantage:
- Internship or volunteer experience in communications or media.
- Campus leadership experience.
- Experience in social media management and content development.
- Photography or videography skills.
- Graphic design experience.
- Experience using creative tools.
- Participation in student organizations, NGOs, community initiatives or youth programs.
Required Skills and Competencies
Candidates should have:
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
- Knowledge of French is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of social media and digital communication tools.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Canva or similar graphic design and content creation tools is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
- Interest in education, gender equality, youth empowerment and community development.
- Commitment to FAWE Rwanda’s mission, vision and values.
Internship Benefits
The selected intern will receive:
- RWF 250,000 per month as an internship stipend.
- Other benefits in accordance with FAWE Rwanda policies.
- Practical experience in communications and development work.
- Exposure to digital communication, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
