About RICA
The Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) is a modern higher education institution established in 2019. It focuses on practical, experiential learning in agriculture and leadership development.
Located in Gashora, RICA operates a fully equipped campus with farms, classrooms, residential facilities, and advanced learning systems. It also runs satellite operations in Nasho.
RICA prepares future agricultural leaders through a curriculum centered on Conservation Agriculture, One Health Systems Thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Job Purpose
The ICT Officer will support and strengthen RICA’s technological infrastructure by delivering reliable IT services, maintaining systems, and ensuring data security.
This role focuses on improving IT efficiency, supporting users, and implementing innovative solutions that enhance institutional productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Monitor and manage IT systems and network performance.
- Provide daily technical support to staff and students.
- Support Audio-Visual systems for digital learning and online platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco Webex.
- Administer institutional systems such as Moodle, SIS, booking systems, and internal platforms.
- Manage users, devices, and licenses via Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Intune.
- Maintain infrastructure including servers, Active Directory, DNS, VLANs, routers, switches, and storage systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, printer, and network issues.
- Perform system backups and implement disaster recovery solutions.
- Assist the ICT Manager in IT projects from planning to execution.
- Maintain proper tracking and documentation of ICT assets.
- Train staff on IT systems, security awareness, and new technologies.
- Collaborate with vendors to procure and implement ICT solutions.
- Recommend new technologies to improve system performance and security.
- Conduct fibre optic work including troubleshooting, splicing, and termination.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or a related field.
- Proven experience in providing ICT support services.
- Strong problem-solving skills and broad knowledge of IT systems.
Skills and Competencies
- Minimum 3 years of experience in end-user ICT support.
- Strong communication, listening, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Teams.
- Ability to manage Audio-Visual systems.
- Strong teamwork and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to identify root causes of issues.
- Willingness to live on the RICA campus for extended periods.
