Job Summary
The Data & AI Director will provide strategic leadership for Water Access Rwanda’s data ecosystem. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will develop and implement the organization’s data strategy, oversee AI integration across departments, strengthen cybersecurity governance, and support the company’s carbon credit program through reliable data systems.
This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise, making it ideal for professionals who enjoy both managing teams and solving complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Develop Data Strategy
- Create and implement a company-wide data strategy.
- Ensure organizational data is accurate, secure, and accessible.
- Improve data quality for better decision-making.
Lead AI Innovation
Design and implement the organization’s AI roadmap.
Identify opportunities to automate business processes.
Evaluate and deploy practical AI and machine learning solutions.
Carbon Data Management
- Build and manage data systems supporting carbon credit initiatives.
- Improve reporting and measurement of environmental impact.
- Ensure accurate monitoring of sustainability data.
Data Governance & Cybersecurity
Develop policies for data governance and compliance.
Strengthen cybersecurity practices across the organization.
Protect sensitive company information through secure systems.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead the Data and Technology team.
- Supervise the Senior IT Officer.
- Coach team members and encourage innovation.
- Collaborate with department heads to deliver digital transformation projects.
Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Data Science
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Software Engineering
- Information Technology
- or another related discipline
- A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in:
- Data Analytics
- Data Engineering
- Business Intelligence
- Data Science
- Technology Leadership
- Proven experience implementing Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning solutions.
Technical Skills
Applicants should have strong knowledge of:

Salary & Benefits
Water Access Rwanda offers an attractive compensation package that includes:
