Job Purpose
The School Principal will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the school to ensure high-quality education aligned with Rwanda’s Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC).
The successful candidate will oversee:
- Academic excellence and quality assurance
- Staff supervision and professional development
- Student welfare and safeguarding
- Financial management and sustainability
- School growth and enrolment
- Parent and community engagement
- Compliance with education policies
- Strategic planning and institutional development
English will serve as the primary language of instruction and communication throughout the school.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Lead the implementation of Rwanda’s Competence-Based Curriculum.
- Improve learner performance through effective instructional leadership.
- Monitor teaching quality through classroom observations and coaching.
- Promote learner-centered teaching methodologies.
English Language Excellence
- Ensure English is consistently used across the school.
- Strengthen teachers’ English language proficiency.
- Improve learners’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
Staff Management
- Supervise teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations.
- Promote continuous professional development.
- Foster teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
Student Welfare
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environment.
- Ensure implementation of child safeguarding policies.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, and learner wellbeing.
- Strengthen communication with parents and guardians.
Co-Curricular Activities
- Promote sports, music, arts, and school clubs.
- Organize competitions and talent development activities.
- Encourage student participation beyond academics.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Prepare and implement operational and financial plans.
- Manage school budgets and revenue generation.
- Oversee expenditure and fee collection.
- Ensure accountability and timely financial reporting.
School Growth
- Increase learner enrolment and retention.
- Improve operational efficiency.
- Promote effective utilization of school resources.
- Achieve annual revenue and sustainability targets.
Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents and community stakeholders.
- Organize parent engagement meetings.
- Promote the school’s image through outreach and marketing initiatives.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education and NESA regulations.
- Coordinate audits and inspections.
- Maintain accurate school records.
- Implement health, safety, and safeguarding standards.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop annual strategic and operational plans.
- Lead innovation and continuous school improvement.
- Monitor institutional performance.
- Submit regular reports to management.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Educational Management, School Leadership, or a related field.
Added Advantage:
- Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Educational Management, School Administration, or a related discipline.
Experience Requirements
Applicants must have:
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in school leadership or management.
- Proven experience managing a Primary School and/or Kindergarten.
- Demonstrated success in improving academic performance and school operations.
