Position 1: Water Engineer – 5 Vacancies
Location: Head Office
Reports to: Water Program Manager
Contract Type: Short-term contract
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be expected to:
- Design, assess, and manage water resource systems, including water supply, stormwater, wastewater, and irrigation infrastructure.
- Prepare engineering designs, technical specifications, drawings, and calculations.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit assessments for proposed projects.
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to senior engineers.
- Ensure that water resource systems comply with applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
- Contribute to the development of water management policies and regulatory frameworks.
- Assess water quality through chemical analysis and the identification of microbial contaminants, recommending appropriate treatment processes.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies and developments in water resources engineering.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the relevant supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following academic and experience requirements:
Option 1
- A Master’s degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant field.
- At least four years of relevant work experience in a similar organization or a comparable function.
Option 2
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant field.
- At least six years of relevant work experience in a similar organization.
Applicants must also have relevant professional qualifications applicable to the position and registration with the relevant Engineering Board in Rwanda.
Position 2: Legal Affairs Specialist – 1 Vacancy
Location: Head Office
Reports to: Legal Affairs & Transaction Manager
Contract Type: Open-ended contract
Key Responsibilities
The Legal Affairs Specialist will be responsible for supporting the company’s legal compliance and managing legal risks. Key duties include:
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, permits, and licences relating to water resource management, environmental protection, and public health.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents involving suppliers, contractors, customers, and stakeholders.
- Identifying legal risks associated with water operations, infrastructure projects, and business activities, and recommending ways to mitigate them.
- Conducting legal research and analysis on water rights, water quality, land use, and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting applications and renewals of permits, licences, and approvals required for water extraction, treatment, distribution, and discharge.
- Assisting internal and external legal counsel with litigation, administrative proceedings, and regulatory enforcement matters.
- Supporting the development, review, and implementation of company policies, procedures, and guidelines for legal compliance and risk management.
- Working with government institutions, regulatory authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters affecting water resources and services.
- Providing employees with legal guidance and training on relevant laws, regulations, policies, and compliance procedures.
- Helping manage legal disputes and crises, including environmental incidents and regulatory violations, to reduce legal and reputational risks.
- Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law or a relevant legal field, such as commercial law or international law.
- At least three years of relevant professional experience in a similar organization or function.
- Relevant professional qualifications for the position, such as a legal practitioner certificate.
