Sambora Private Journeys is recruiting a Tour Guide Driver to provide professional driving and personalised tour-guiding services to guests travelling across Rwanda. The role combines safe 4×4 driving, destination knowledge, guest care and interpretation of Rwanda’s history, culture, wildlife and landscapes.
About the Role
This is more than a driving position. The Tour Guide Driver will be the face of Sambora Private Journeys throughout guests’ trips, accompanying them from arrival to departure and ensuring that their journeys are safe, comfortable, informative and enjoyable.
The successful candidate will travel throughout Rwanda, including destinations such as Kigali, Volcanoes National Park, Nyungwe, Lake Kivu and Akagera.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should have:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience as a tour guide driver, safari guide or in a comparable tourism role.
- A valid Rwandan driving licence appropriate for the vehicles operated.
- Proven 4×4 driving experience, including rough, gravel and off-road terrain.
- Excellent spoken English and Kinyarwanda.
- Strong knowledge of Rwanda’s national parks, destinations, roads, history, culture, wildlife and tourism experiences.
- A tourism, tour guiding or hospitality certificate/diploma is an advantage.
- Relevant RDB tour guide certification is preferred.
- Valid first aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and routine inspections.
- Ability to use smartphones, navigation applications, WhatsApp and electronic reporting systems.
French, German or another international language is an added advantage.
