A high-level diplomatic household in Kacyiru, Kigali is seeking qualified and interested applicants for the position of Sous Chef and Butler.
About the Position
The Sous Chef and Butler will support the preparation, presentation and service of high-quality meals while providing professional hospitality and household dining services within the residence.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef and residential staff to coordinate daily meals, dining arrangements and official or private functions.
The position combines professional cooking, food safety, kitchen organization, table service and household hospitality. It also requires professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, courtesy, flexibility and strong attention to detail.
Previous experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel, private residence, diplomatic household or reputable hospitality establishment is highly desirable.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Applicants must have:
- Completion of secondary school; or
- Food and beverage training.
Experience
Candidates should have:
- At least 2 years of professional experience as a Sous Chef.
- Experience in a 4-star hotel or reputable dining establishment is preferred.
Language
- Good spoken and written English.
- Ability to read and understand instructions from the employer.
Skills and Abilities
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage handling.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
- High professionalism, integrity and discretion.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to mentor or supervise junior staff is an advantage.
