Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Senior Field Assistant is supervised by the (Senior) Field Officer/Associate and performs various functions related to field activities. The incumbent maintains frequent contact with internal staff and external officials, leaders of the refugee community, and local populations.
Duties
- Monitor the implementation of UNHCR programs, including the delivery of assistance items and infrastructure monitoring.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as report preparation and supporting authorized personnel during field missions.
- Act as an interpreter and contribute to liaison activities.
- Collect relevant data and report findings to the supervisor.
- Maintain regular contacts with local authorities and implementing partners.
- Assist in the reception, registration, and provision of assistance to persons of concern.
- Monitor the situation of persons of concern in camps and report accordingly.
- Liaise with local authorities, partners, and populations of concern.
- Identify and manage risks while supporting objectives in the area of responsibility.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- G5: 2 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma; or 1 year with a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Field(s) of Education: Not applicable.
- Certificates and/or Licenses:
- Business Administration, Law, Political Science (Certificates marked with an asterisk are essential).
Relevant Job Experience
- Essential: Not specified.
- Desirable: Completion of UNHCR learning programmes or specific training relevant to the position.
Functional Skills
- IT-Computer Literacy
- CO-Drafting and Documentation
- CL-Multi-stakeholder Communications with Partners, Government & Community (Essential).
Language Requirements
- Knowledge of English and the UN working language of the duty station if not English. Local language knowledge is a plus.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Experience in planning and coordinating the implementation of Non-food Items (NFIs).
- Expertise in Energy and Environment programs, including Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) implementation in humanitarian contexts.
- Knowledge of sphere standards, UNHCR standards, and Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) mapping.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in monitoring and identifying gaps in humanitarian program activities.
- Ability to work under stressful circumstances and manage short deadlines.
