The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) is inviting applications for the position of Lecturer, Simulation and Skills Track within the Center for Transformative Learning Technologies (CTLT). This role is pivotal in advancing UGHE’s mission to enhance simulation education and improve healthcare delivery in the region.
Position Overview
The Lecturer will support academic programs and operations at UGHE’s state-of-the-art simulation center located in Butaro, Rwanda. Reporting to the Manager of the Simulation and Skills Center, the Lecturer will manage curriculum development, ensure quality improvement, and assist with administrative tasks and research projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Sim Center Manager to oversee and innovate simulation curricula for UGHE and partner institutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with Basic Medical Sciences (BMS) and clinical faculty to develop appropriate simulation instruction for medical students and other learners.
- Simulation Scenarios: Pilot and run simulation scenarios, serving as a key expert debriefer to support faculty instruction.
- Evaluation: Examine and assess learners to confirm their understanding and application of skills.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop feedback systems for faculty to ensure high-quality simulation-based courses.
- Operational Support: Assist with scheduling, equipment management, and maintaining safety standards in the simulation center.
- Research Contributions: Conduct research leading to peer-reviewed publications on medical education and simulation-based education.
Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent degree; a Master’s degree in a health-related field is preferred.
- Experience: At least four years of clinical experience as a Medical Doctor in a fast-paced hospital setting.
- Skills: Proficiency in clinical scenarios, emergency procedures, research design, and statistical analysis software. Strong communication, collaboration, and multitasking abilities are essential.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and manipulate objects weighing up to 10 kg and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills.
