About the Role
The IT Lead will oversee IT operations, infrastructure, security, compliance, team development and technology innovation for Wicloudrwd’s Kigali operations.
The role requires both technical and operational leadership, with responsibility for establishing effective IT processes and ensuring IT services meet business and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations and Governance
- Oversee end-to-end IT operations in Kigali.
- Establish IT governance, roles and responsibilities.
- Manage escalation mechanisms.
- Coordinate resolution of major IT incidents.
- Provide IT status, risk and improvement reports to management.
Infrastructure and Service Management
- Manage LAN, WAN and VPN networks.
- Manage servers, cloud resources, endpoints and collaboration tools.
- Ensure IT environments meet business SLA requirements.
- Manage the IT asset lifecycle.
- Handle procurement, deployment, inventory and retirement of IT assets.
- Manage external vendors and service providers.
Information Security and Compliance
- Implement IT security and compliance controls.
- Support internal audits and customer compliance assessments.
- Develop and enforce IT security policies.
- Maintain incident response plans and security awareness programmes.
- Manage access control and identity management.
- Ensure appropriate data protection.
AI Enablement and Innovation
The IT Lead will identify and implement AI solutions to improve IT operations and productivity.
Responsibilities include:
- Driving adoption of AI tools.
- Integrating AI into support and business processes.
- Optimizing internal workflows and service delivery.
Team Leadership
- Lead IT teams across multiple offices.
- Set performance objectives.
- Establish accountability mechanisms.
- Improve IT execution and professionalism.
- Standardize processes and reduce dependency on individuals.
Cross-functional Communication
- Work with business, compliance, security and operations teams.
- Communicate with overseas leadership in English.
- Explain technical issues through structured, business-oriented updates for non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
- 6+ years of IT experience, including 2–3 years in an IT Lead or equivalent role.
- Hands-on IT infrastructure and operations experience.
- Solid knowledge of ITSM and security compliance.
- Practical experience applying AI in operations and/or productivity.
Technical Skills
- Networking and systems administration.
- Enterprise IT environments.
- ITSM processes, including:
- Incident Management
- Problem Management
- Change Management
- Information security and compliance.
- Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure are a strong advantage.
- Experience managing IT for multi-site or mid-to-large organizations is a plus.
Leadership Attributes
Candidates should demonstrate:

AI Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is expected:

- AI chatbot implementation.
- AI knowledge-base development.
- AI-enabled process automation.
- AI-based ticket triage.
- AI workflow optimization.
- AI-driven reporting.
Language Requirements
- Local language: Fluent in reading, writing and speaking.
- English: Strong professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
