About ABAHIZI SACCO NGOMA (ASN)
ABAHIZI SACCO NGOMA (ASN) is a member-owned financial cooperative operating in Ngoma District, Rwanda. It was established through the merger of Umurenge SACCOs to strengthen financial inclusion and service delivery across all 14 sectors of the district. The institution operates under RCA registration and is licensed by the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR).
Job Purpose
The Internal Auditor will be responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes within the SACCO. The role ensures compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies while safeguarding organizational assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual risk-based audit plans
- Ensure compliance with internal audit standards and procedures
- Identify and report fraud risks, irregularities, and operational weaknesses
- Verify compliance with IFRS, BNR regulations, and applicable laws
- Assess efficiency and effectiveness of resource utilization
- Conduct special audits on cash handling and financial transactions
- Review loan files for compliance with credit policies and procedures
- Prepare periodic audit reports and recommendations
- Monitor implementation of strategic plans, budgets, and action plans
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in auditing or related financial roles
- Strong knowledge of auditing standards, accounting principles, and regulations
- Understanding of microfinance and banking operations is required
- Professional auditing certification is an added advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Strong knowledge of risk management and internal controls
- Proficiency in MS Office and core banking systems
