Job Summary
Echowa Ltd is recruiting a General Backend Developer to join its technical team in Kigali. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems across multiple business applications. The developer will work in a fast-paced environment supporting microservices, APIs, and business logic systems used across different platforms.

Job Purpose
The Backend Developer will be responsible for building and maintaining backend systems, APIs, and microservices that support multiple applications. The role focuses on ensuring system stability, scalability, and efficient communication between different platforms and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend features using NestJS and TypeScript
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases for performance and consistency
- Manage asynchronous processing using BullMQ and Redis
- Build integrations between different system modules and services
- Ensure system reliability through automated testing (Jest)
- Maintain code quality through reviews and agile development practices
- Collaborate with front-end and mobile developers
- Support deployment processes and system monitoring
- Ensure smooth interoperability across multiple applications
- Participate in technical discussions and team collaboration sessions
Technical Requirements
- Strong experience in Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript
- Good knowledge of PostgreSQL (TypeORM)
- Experience with Redis and BullMQ (queue systems)
- Understanding of microservices architecture
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
- Knowledge of Docker or similar container tools (advantage)
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
- Good understanding of business and customer needs
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Fluent in French and/or English (both is an advantage)
Experience Required
- 2 to 3 years of experience in backend development
- Experience in SaaS, retail, or business systems is an advantage
