About COOPEC IKIRENGA
COOPEC IKIRENGA is a financial service cooperative operating in the Northern Province of Rwanda under the supervision of the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR).
The cooperative was established in May 2024 following the merger of five SACCOs: COOPEC ITI, COOPEC CODEMARU, CSTCR SACCO, CSPKI and TRASO.
Its headquarters are located in Rulindo District, Base Sector, Rwamahwa Cell, Base Village.
COOPEC IKIRENGA is seeking a competent and qualified professional to fill the position of Head of Operations.
Job Purpose
The Head of Operations will oversee the day-to-day operations of the cooperative, ensuring efficiency, quality service delivery, regulatory compliance and effective management of business, IT and digital operations.
The position reports to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning and monitoring the day-to-day running of business activities.
- Supervising and supporting staff in carrying out their duties.
- Participating in management meetings.
- Developing departmental strategies with senior management.
- Reviewing and formulating relevant policies and promoting their implementation.
- Ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures applicable to the department.
- Managing relationships and agreements with staff, members, customers and external partners.
- Preparing timely and detailed financial and operational performance reports.
- Evaluating business procedures and implementing improvements.
- Overseeing member and customer support processes to improve satisfaction.
- Managing business, IT and digital operations.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Managing Director.
Education and Experience
Applicants should meet one of the following academic and professional requirements:
- A Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field; or
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field with 10 years of experience at senior management level in the banking or microfinance industry.
Additional requirements include:
- At least 5 years of experience in banking or microfinance operations.
- Professional accounting certification such as CAT, CPA, ACCA or CIFA is an added advantage.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of data analysis and performance/operational metrics.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of French is an added advantage.
General Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be Rwandan.
- Not have been definitively sentenced to imprisonment for a period of six months or more.
- Not have been dismissed from another institution unless legally entitled to reinstatement.
- Not have been involved in the bankruptcy of a financial institution.
