About the Job
KARISIMBI SACCO NYABIHU is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Risk and Compliance Officer to help manage risks, strengthen internal controls, ensure compliance with regulations, and support the cooperative’s management.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will:
- Develop and implement risk management strategies.
- Identify, assess, and monitor risks facing the SACCO.
- Conduct risk measurement and liquidity stress testing.
- Develop and monitor early warning indicators.
- Strengthen internal controls, policies, and risk management systems.
- Investigate possible violations of compliance policies and regulations.
- Support management in managing the cooperative’s risks.
- Train staff on compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare contingency plans for liquidity risk.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with SACCO policies and regulations.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with at least 2 years of management experience in the microfinance or banking sector;
OR
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with at least 5 years of management experience in the microfinance or banking sector.
Additional requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in internal audit and compliance.
- Experience in auditing and good knowledge of microfinance, banking, and accounting practices.
- A professional qualification in auditing is highly recommended.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; French is an added advantage.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- High levels of professionalism and integrity.
