Job Summary
The Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, processing patient samples, operating diagnostic equipment, maintaining quality standards, and supporting efficient laboratory workflows to enhance patient care services.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized university
- Valid registration with the Rwanda Allied Health Professions Council
- One (1) to two (2) years of relevant professional experience
- Practical knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and diagnostic instruments
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidates will be responsible for:
- Collecting, preparing, labeling, and processing patient samples
- Performing laboratory tests in:
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Serology
- Histo-cytology
- Coagulation
- Clinical chemistry
- Operating, cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Ensuring quality control and proper laboratory documentation
- Recording and reporting test results accurately using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Communicating critical laboratory findings to clinicians
- Adhering to laboratory safety, biosafety, and confidentiality procedures
- Managing inventory control and maintaining compliance with ISO 15189 standards
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals and laboratory teams to ensure smooth operations
Required Competencies

- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and processes
- Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
- Good communication and teamwork skills
