BRAC International is recruiting a Technical Sector Officer – Education to support the implementation and quality delivery of the AIM Education Pathway in Rwanda. The position is based in Ruhango District and is offered on a Regular/Fixed-Term basis.

The successful candidate will provide technical and implementation support in education programming, including teacher training, curriculum and training-content development, school leadership support, gender-responsive education, monitoring, reporting and stakeholder coordination.

About the AIM Program

The Mastercard Foundation Accelerating Impact for Young Women (AIM) program, in partnership with BRAC, aims to equip 2 million adolescent girls and young women with entrepreneurship, employability and life-skills training, together with support to start and grow businesses.

The nine-year program runs from 2021 to 2030 and operates in seven African countries, including Rwanda. Participants are supported through either an education pathway or a livelihood pathway, depending on their age, needs and circumstances.

AIM Education Pathway

The education pathway focuses on increasing access to and completion of quality secondary education for adolescent girls aged 12–17.

Its objectives include:

• Increasing the agency, voice and life skills of 400,000 adolescent girls.
• Supporting girls to complete at least lower secondary education.
• Improving gender-responsive education in at least 2,000 secondary schools.

About the Technical Sector Officer – Education

The Technical Sector Officer will support the AIM Senior Technical Specialist, Education in planning, implementing and ensuring quality delivery of the AIM Education Pathway.

The role covers technical and implementation activities such as:

• Facilitating training.
• Reviewing and adapting curriculum and educational content.
• Supporting teachers’ professional development.
• Supporting school leadership in school improvement planning.
• Building the capacity of programme staff.
• Supporting gender-responsive education.
• Strengthening parental engagement to improve access to and completion of secondary education.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree or Postgraduate qualification in:
  • Education
  • International Development
  • Gender
  • Sociology
  • Anthropology
  • Social Sciences
  • Or another relevant field.

Required Skills and Competencies

Candidates should have:

• Training-material development skills.
• Staff capacity-building and facilitation skills.
• Computer literacy and presentation skills.
• Report writing and documentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and support large teams.

Experience Requirements

The advert requires:

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in education training, development of training guides, educational content and curriculum, gender equality, social inclusion, community engagement and school engagement.
• Previous experience providing technical assistance, particularly in teacher-training module development and implementation.
• Experience facilitating training.
• Experience working in integrated programmes targeting adolescent girls and young women is an advantage.
• Experience developing Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) messages, tools and materials is an advantage.
• Experience in advocacy, community mobilization and engagement is an added advantage.
