The East China University of Science and Technology is offering fully funded scholarships sponsored by the Chinese and Shanghai Governments for international students who wish to pursue Master’s or PhD degrees.

Scholarship Benefits

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scholarship:
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
- Must hold a valid degree (Bachelor’s for Master’s applicants, Master’s for PhD applicants).
- Language requirements:
- Chinese-taught Programs: HSK 5 for 210 or HSK 6 for 180 (exemptions available).
- English-taught Programs: TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.0, or proof of prior English medium education (native speakers exempt).
Required Documents
Applicants need to prepare the following:
- Passport photo page
- Academic transcripts
- Graduation and degree certificates
- Language proficiency proof
- Acceptance letter (as requested)
- Two recommendation letters (English or Chinese)
- Non-criminal record certificate (or affirmation if not available)
- Statement of financial support
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form
- Study plan (minimum 800 words) and research proposal (if applicable)
Application Process
To apply:
- Submit your application online through the ECUST application system.
- Register and select “Online Application – Self-sponsored – Doctoral Student/Master Student”.
- Upload the required documents and scholarship application forms.
- Pay a non-refundable application fee of 600 CNY.
- If unable to pay online, transfer the fee to the ECUST account and upload the receipt.
