The City of Kigali (CoK) invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Public Health Officer . A total of twenty-five (25) positions are available under the statutory framework. The application deadline is February 11, 2026.
Key responsibilities
The Public Health Officer will be responsible for implementing the City of Kigali’s public health strategies in alignment with national policies and programs. The role involves organizing and conducting public awareness campaigns at the sector level on key public health issues, with particular emphasis on disease prevention, control, and malnutrition. The officer will supervise the quality of services provided by health facilities at the sector level and consolidate data related to enrollment in medical insurance schemes, including Mutuelle de Santé. In addition, the position requires monitoring the allocation and utilization of funds intended to support community health initiatives for vulnerable populations. The Public Health Officer will also perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with the institution’s objectives.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Clinical Psychology, Public Health, Community Health, Health Sciences, Global Health, Epidemiology, or Clinical and Community Health. No prior professional experience is required for this position.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong decision-making abilities, effective time and risk management skills, and a results-oriented mindset. The role requires sound digital literacy, knowledge of government policy-making processes, and effective resource management skills. Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively within a team. Applicants must be fluent in Kinyarwanda and either English or French, with proficiency in all three languages considered an added advantage. Extensive knowledge and practical skills in health and sanitation are also required.
