Job Overview
Pharo School Kigali is seeking a qualified and passionate French Teacher to support students in developing strong literacy and communication skills in French. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, student-centered lessons while supporting the school’s mission and educational standards.
The role involves lesson planning, assessment, classroom management, student support, and collaboration with parents and school staff.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment
- Deliver French lessons aligned with school schemes of work
- Differentiate instruction to meet varying student needs
- Support play-based and active learning approaches
- Prepare lesson plans and learning materials
Student Assessment and Support
- Assess and monitor student progress regularly
- Participate in examinations and marking activities
- Maintain records of student attendance and achievement
- Provide academic guidance and pastoral support to students
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues
- Participate in school activities and professional development
- Collaborate with teachers and school leadership
Additional Duties
- Support extracurricular activities and school events
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the school administration
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in French, Education, Linguistics, or related field
- Recognized teaching qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent
- Additional French language teaching certifications are an advantage
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preferably in international or Cambridge curriculum schools
- Experience teaching French as a second language
- Strong fluency in French and good English communication skills
- Knowledge of modern language teaching methodologies
- Ability to use technology and multimedia tools in teaching
