About Raising The Village
Raising The Village is an international development organization working to address ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa.

About the Project Assistant Role
The Project Assistant will support the implementation of RTV programs at community and village level. The role involves working directly with households, community groups, local government officials, and other community structures.

Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation
The successful candidates will:
- Participate in project design review meetings with partner villages.
- Provide feedback to improve project designs and budgets before implementation.
- Coordinate community training activities.
- Support training in areas such as financial literacy, behaviour and mindset change, water and sanitation, village savings and loans, agriculture, and livestock management.
- Implement RTV project methodologies.
- Prepare lists of goods and services required for implementation.
- Verify goods and inputs before distribution.
- Follow up with community groups and households to support continued compliance.
- Identify project risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Conduct regular meetings with community members and local leadership.
Government and Community Coordination
The Project Assistant will also:
- Build working relationships with Cell-level government officials, including SEDOs and Executive Secretaries.
- Work with community leadership and structures such as Inteko z’abaturage, Incuti z’umuryango, Abajyanama b’Ubuzima, Abajyanama b’Ubuhinzi, community coaches, technical coaches, and village coaches.
- Mobilize households for trainings, meetings, and other program activities.
- Support training of community and Cell-level actors on RTV methodologies, monitoring and evaluation, technology use, and field protocols.
- Provide follow-up support to community and government actors during implementation.
- Promote cooperation and trust between RTV, government officials, and community structures.
Reporting and Monitoring
Responsibilities also include:
- Developing and managing work plans.
- Completing weekly field reports.
- Supporting information sharing for donor reporting and proposal development.
- Participating in weekly staff and cluster meetings.
- Preparing weekly financial requests and accountabilities.
- Taking photographs for the organization’s data repository.
- Supporting attendance tracking, basic data collection, household follow-ups, and field monitoring.
- Providing recommendations to improve project implementation and sustainability.
Education and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Social Work, Humanities, Community Development, or a related field.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture is preferred but not required.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience at village level.
- Demonstrated experience working with and coordinating local government institutions and officials, particularly at Sector and Cell levels. This experience is stated as mandatory.
Skills and Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong training and facilitation skills.
- Strong verbal and written English communication.
- Fluency in local languages used in RTV’s areas of operation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Important Field Requirements
This is a highly field-oriented position. Applicants should be:
- Physically able to hike in high terrain.
- Willing to travel approximately 90% of the time.
- Able to ride a motorcycle.
- Hold a valid Rwandan Class A rider’s permit.
- Have demonstrated experience navigating remote, rural, and hilly terrain.
