Job Overview
The Accountant will manage and maintain accurate financial and accounting records while supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, cash-flow management, tax compliance, and audit activities.
The position requires a candidate with strong analytical and numerical skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Recording and maintaining accurate accounting transactions and financial records.
- Preparing monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and management reports.
- Processing payments, receipts, invoices, and other financial transactions.
- Performing bank and general ledger reconciliations.
- Tracking accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Assisting with budgeting, financial analysis, and cash-flow management.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal policies.
- Maintaining proper filing and documentation of financial records.
- Supporting internal and external audits by providing the required documentation.
- Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution or microfinance environment.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Experience with financial institution or core banking systems such as ADBanking is an added advantage.
- The job announcement indicates an age requirement of 30 years.
